Having picked up third place in the Grand Prix of Benelux, British rider Max Anstie proved too many people that he is fast enough in the sand and his position on the British team for the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations is a worthy one.

Multiple AMA Champion and a legend of Motocross Jeff Ward was a big part of the success of Team USA are at the Motocross of Nations in the 1980's. Ward raced in seven MXoN and won all seven of them, making him the most successful rider in the sports history for this event.

Back in 1957 Bill Nilsson riding an AJS took victory at the first ever Grand Prix of Italy, held at the Imola circuit in the north of Italy. That 500cc win by the Swedish legend would begin a love affair with the Italians and the FIM World Motocross championship.

The three 2012 Junior World Champions, Caleb Grothues (65cc), Brian Hsu (85cc) and Tim Gajser (125cc) did not only received the gold medal for having won the Title, but they also received a top line SCOTT bicycle to be used for their training.

German rider Paul Friedrichs passed away last Thursday 30 August, aged 72. He spent the last two months in a hospital. He won three consecutive FIM 500cc Motocross World Championship titles from 1966 to 1968.
