Augusts Justs interview
By Geoff Meyer | 25 Jul 2012

Augusts Justs isn’t a ride on the top of everyone’s want list, but the young man from Latvia is very much a rider who has produced some good results in 2012. In Sweden he was two times in the points and in his home Grand Prix in Latvia he again showed great form to finish 19th overall.

Now down in 27th place in the FIM World MX1 Championship points, the Latvian rider is looking forward to being picked in the Latvian team for this year’s Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations.

It would be a tall order for the young man to battle with the likes of Antonio Cairoli and Ryan Dungey, but he will be giving it 100% to do his best.

We caught up with Justs during the Grand Prix of Latvia.

Q: How did it feel to race at your home track?

Justs: It felt really good, home crowd and home track and I did well in qualification; I was riding good and made it from 19th to 13th and I was fighting with Barragan and Pourcel and that was great for me.

Q: Does it help you to race at home, or is the pressure pretty high?

Justs: It helps to race in front my home crowd, but I was so nervous and everyone wants the best for me. The crowd was going crazy and it felt good they supported me.

Q: What has been the highlight of your season so far and what do you expect from the last part of the season?

Justs: The Grand Prix in Sweden I was 15th and 16th and that was my best result. I had hoped to do the same in Latvia and if I can finish like this more often it is a great feeling and everyone is happy. It’s so good to be a part of this MX1 class, it’s so strong and also MX2 is strong.

Q: Kegums will hold the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations in the next couple of years. How would it be to be involved in that event at your home track?

Kegums: It would be awesome if the Motocross of Nations would be at Kegums. I want so much to be in the team and it is right in my town, it’s my favorite track in the Grand Prix series. Also I hope that I can ride this year in the Motocross of Nations in Lommel, I have ridden there many times and I hope for a good result.
