Team Canada announces their first Nominee for MXoN
By Marionna Leiva | 25 Jul 2012

With just two months time before one of the most expected motocross events of the season, some teams have already started presenting their nominees to represent their countries in the 66th edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, set for Lommel, Belgium, the upcoming 30th September weekend. Team Canada has recently made official that Cole Thompson is one of the candidates to represent Canada in the “Olympic Games” of Motocross.

The nineteen year old from Ontario commented: “It would be a huge honour to be picked to race for Team Canada, we have so much talent up here in the Great White North, and to be able to represent for this country would be amazing. I may not have been Pro for very long, but I have been through some high pressure, high intensity races to get me ready for this type of event. What I lack in Pro experience, I make up for in my versatility, I feel like I have the ability to adapt to a track quick and get up to race speed.”

Cole Thompson started racing at the age of four and after racing some years in Ontario and Michigan, he won his first Canadian National Title in 2004 in the 65cc class. He then started racing the US Amateur Nationals and during seven years he was able to win titles at every track. However, the last one and the most memorable for Thompson was during his last Amateur race at Loretta Lynn’s, where he won the 450B Title.

After such achievement the Canadian rider turned into a Pro and he started preparing himself for the Supercross season. His best result was a second position in the Supercross of Montreal and some top ten results in the Supercross East Coast Lites.
